Vice President, Army Accounts

Dr. Todd Schmidt is Vice President of Army Accounts at Logistics Systems Inc., where he leads enterprise initiatives aligned with national security priorities and directs efforts to expand LSI’s strategic footprint across the defense and intelligence communities. A retired U.S. Army Colonel, Dr. Schmidt brings nearly three decades of senior leadership experience across global joint operations, strategic policy, and missile defense.

Prior to joining LSI, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Army University Press and Editor-in-Chief of Military Review, where he was handpicked by the Army Chief of Staff to lead the Harding Project — a cornerstone initiative to revitalize professional military discourse. His distinguished military career includes executive leadership roles in the Immediate Office of the Secretary of Defense; Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management & Comptroller (ASA, FMC); Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army (OCSA); U.S. Strategic Command; U.S. Space Command; and U. S. Central Command, as well as command of U.S. Patriot Missile Forces in Kuwait.

He has directed multinational warfighting experiments involving 24 allied nations, developed missile defense policy at the highest levels of the Department of Defense, and led operational units across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Dr. Schmidt is widely regarded for his ability to translate strategic vision into executable operational plans. He is also a trusted advisor on civil-military relations and an advocate for strengthening and developing civilian leadership across all federal institutions and agencies.

Dr. Schmidt holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas, master’s degrees from Georgetown University and the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. He is Chief Academic Officer at the U.S. Diplomatic Studies Foundation; Director of the Simon Center for Ethical Leadership and Interagency Cooperation; Senior Fellow at the Global National Security Institute at University of South Florida; Senior Fellow at the Office of National Defense Initiatives at the University of Kansas; and member of the Council on Foreign Relations.  Additionally, he is the author of Silent Coup of the Guardians, an award-winning examination of military influence on national security policy.
